Tool Design Engineer

Client is a well established tool shop in Northwest Missouri that designs and manufactures precision injection mold tooling.  We seek an experienced Mold Design Engineer to lead the development of the next generation of tool designs for major US consumer product and medical device customers.

Responsibilities:

The Mold Design Engineer will be part of the management team with primary responsibility for new projects.  Duties will include:

• Working with customers to fully understand their requirements and translate those needs into new high volume, durable, precision tools including hot runner systems.
• Project responsibility will often extend into the critique of product designs (DFM), coordinating with mold makers and others in the production of tool components, and assisting in new tool testing and transfer to production.
• Utilize Solidworks and Unigraphics 3D CAD systems for new tool design as well as redesign/modification of existing tooling.

Requirements include:

• At least five years of Injection Mold Tool Design experience with specific, proven skills in thin wall molding for high precision applications in consumer product or medical device markets. Large part design for automotive or other industrial applications is generally not applicable.
• Specific experience in the design of Stack Molds and Hot Runner Systems is required.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills plus strong teamwork skills are a must.
• Uncompromising attention to detail and desire to produce only top quality results.
