Our client is a manufacturer of engineered building products designed to replace wood, metal and other traditional materials in a variety of building applications. We have an immediate need for a Polymer Engineer for their plant in Northeast Pennsylvania. If you have experience in managing Product Development projects in a plastic extrusion or molding environment, we would like to speak with you about this opportunity.
Responsibilities:
The Polymer Engineer will be responsible for the development and testing of PVC/Polyolefin materials and will work in concert with Process and other Engineers in the commercialization of new products. Duties will include:
- Formulation and blending of additives, fillers, plasticizers and other materials to meet specific end product and production process optimization specifications.
- Will perform and document materials testing for impact, weathering and conformance to a variety of building industry codes.
- Utilize SPC, DOE, and Root Cause Analyses to evaluate materials, processes, and products.
- Work with other engineers in process optimization, efficiency improvement, and scrap reduction.
Requirements include:
- BS Polymer Science, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- At least 8 to 10 years of experience in process engineering and product development in Polymer Extrusion. Previous PVC experience is highly valued.
- Strong preference of previous experience in Project Management involving use of Stage Gate process.
- Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
