Our client is a leading manufacturer of cutting edge medical devices. Located in an attractive smaller community near Los Angeles, California, the company is experiencing a period of unprecedented growth. Responsibilities:
The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for creating advanced medical device products that are compact, durable, portable and designed with ergonomics and ease of use in mind. The Product Development Engineer will lead projects from concept through prototyping, testing, and into production. Duties will include:
- Development of creative and cost-effective design solutions for mechanical components and systems. Focus will be on the application of engineering principles to minimize parts, reduce weight, product size, and create more portable and reliable products.
- Work closely with manufacturing and tooling engineers to ensure that manufacturability and quality are built into the product from the start.
- Design and develop prototypes and oversee testing and evaluation procedures.
- Play a key role in the selection and supervision of component vendors.
- Manage project budget and coordinate each step in the project with customers, vendors, and other team members to meet stringent cost and timeline goals.
Requirements include:
- BS/MS Mechanical Engineering.
- 5 to 10 years of experience that includes past exposure to manufacturing, product and tooling design, and project management.
- Specific knowledge of pneumatic systems including the interfacing of electromechanical control devices such as solenoids, pneumatic valves, servo motors, etc.
- Knowledge and experience with plastic injection molded parts.
- Experience in life cycle and stress test procedures.
- Experience in Medical Device industry is preferred, but client is looking for creativity, understanding of ergonomic considerations, cosmetic appearance, and solid engineering skills that could come from small appliance, toy, powered hand tool, or similar environments.
