The Director-New Product Development will have the ultimate responsibility for managing the development of manufacturing operations and fully commercializing this new product. Responsibilities:
The Director-New Product Development will manage a diverse group of highly skilled and talented professionals currently engaged in the largest product introduction project in our client’s history. This is the Key Management Assignment for the project and will involve meeting the following expectations.
- Timely evaluation and analysis of the current status of project with recommendations to corporate management team regarding timelines, schedules, personnel assignments, vendor selection and management, and budgets.
- Development of plans and procedures specifying product design criteria; organization and assignment of personnel and resources; manufacturing systems requirements including equipment selection, layout, and installation; compliance to FDA, GMP, and ISO documentation and validation guidelines; and management of start-up operations.
- Overseeing the actions of Project and Program Managers and Engineers to ensure project remains on schedule, within budget, and fully meets or exceeds quality standards. Will make key decisions affecting every aspect of the development and roll out of this new product.
- Maintaining contact with and coordinating the actions of outside vendors supplying equipment and services necessary to the success of the project.
- Monitoring project progress and delivering regular reports for corporate management team to inform and provide updates as to workforce planning, milestone achievement, etc.
Requirements include:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science. MBA or Project Management Certification is strongly preferred.
- No less than 10 to 15 years of experience in the Medical Device industry and not less than 8 to 10 years in management of major new product development and launch projects.
- Candidates must demonstrate knowledge of FDA and ISO requirements for medical product design and manufacturing systems.
- Specific experience involving the design and development of plastic disposable, single use items and high speed assembly, liquid filling, and packaging production lines is ideal.
- Demonstrated competence in management of complex, high value projects requiring exceptional communication, leadership, interpersonal and organization skills.
