Responsibilities:
The Senior Tooling Engineer / Technical Supervisor will be a key member of the Engineering and Plant Management team by providing critical guidance to mold design, tooling vendor selection and supervision, and assisting in the continuous improvement of injection molding operations. There are additional responsibilities for directing Tool Room operations. Duties include:
- Responsible for management of injection mold tooling procurement projects and supervision of tool build, sampling, validation and new product launch efforts.
- Work with New Product Development Engineers and Project Managers to provide mold design and build expertise, including the design and manufacturing of prototype molds and production tooling.
- Participate on project teams with Manufacturing, Process, and Quality Engineers to identify opportunities to improve injection molding and product improvement initiatives. Will utilize advanced Lean Manufacturing techniques including 5S, Six Sigma, advanced automation, etc.
- Utilize technical expertise to suggest, justify and implement new processing strategies and associated capital equipment projects.
- Supervise a talented group of Process Technicians, Toolmakers and Maintenance Specialists.
Requirements include:
- BS Plastics, Mechanical or Engineering Technology.
- A minimum of 8 to 10 years of experience in precision injection molding. Experience in high cosmetic value, medium to high volume precision component molding for medical device, consumer product, electronic or similar products is highly desired.
- At least 3 to 5 years of Technical Supervision experience in the design and fabrication of injection molds and tooling.
- Demonstrated skills in the utilization of 3D CAD (Solidworks or ProE preferred) and Moldflow technologies.
- Injection Mold Processing experience, RJG Certification preferred.
- Experience in the application of modern Lean Manufacturing systems including Six Sigma techniques.
